The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity, reporting that the cause of death was blunt-force trauma sustained in the collision.
The accident occurred late Wednesday night on Interstate 5 South at the Lakewood Boulevard off-ramp, where a gray pick-up truck and another vehicle collided, blocking the middle lanes. Emergency responders from the Downey Fire Department and California Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene, but despite their efforts, Marely’s life was lost far too soon. Marely’s passing is a heartbreaking loss to her family, friends, and community. At just 18 years old, she was a young woman full of promise, love, and dreams for the future. Her life was not defined by the circumstances of her death, but by the joy, kindness, and light she brought to those around her.
