Obituary: Mary Ann Yaw (Annie Bob-James) — A Life of Love, Devotion, and Community
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the death of Mary Ann Yaw, affectionately known as Annie Bob-James, who passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the age of 55. Born on December 4, 1969, she was the cherished daughter of the late Bob James and Clarissa Rogers-Yaw. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family, friends, and community, who will forever remember her warmth, generosity, and unwavering devotion.
Mary Ann was a loving mother to her only child, Rawley Fredericks, and a reputed wife to Emmanuel Cole. She embraced her role as a devoted grandmother, showering her grandchildren — Raziyah, Re’Niyah, Raheem, and Jahara — with affection and guidance. Her family was the center of her world, and she lived each day with selflessness and care, ensuring that those around her felt loved and supported. She was a caring sister to Tyshia (Emmy), Abiola (Petal), Lambert (Billy), Colin, Earlene James, and others, while also remembering with love her late siblings Steve, Loretta, Linden, Finella, Kenneth, Carlotta, and Eartha. As an aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt to many, Mary Ann’s nurturing spirit extended across generations, leaving behind countless cherished memories.
Her kindness reached beyond family, touching the lives of friends, neighbors, and community members. She was a foster mother to Nadata Critchlow, and a steadfast friend to many, including Linda Fiffee, Bridgette Goodman, Nicola Jones, Roxanne Persaud, Dawn Andries, Hazel Howard, Sunita Khun, Kenneth Vanie Vijay, Jackie McRae, Simone Griffith, Verna, Kwame Elias, Joycelyn Bamwell, Judge Sheshe, Ishmael, and others too numerous to mention. Her generosity and compassion were boundless, making her a pillar of strength and love in Buxton and beyond.
The funeral service for the late Mary Ann Yaw will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Viewing will take place at Jerick’s Funeral Parlor from 11:00–12:00 a.m., followed by further viewing at her residence, 27 Middie Walk, Buxton. Set-up will be at her residence on Friday, October 17, and a wake will be held at Apollo Karaoke Bar, Friendship, on Saturday, October 18.
