Ryan passed away after a long and courageous battle that began on April 20, 2023, when his life was dramatically altered by a rare AVM rupture and stroke — a condition that affects less than 1% of the population. His death is a profound loss to his family, friends, and all who followed his remarkable story of resilience.
Ryan’s journey was one of extraordinary strength. Following his life flight from Montana to Utah, he endured a 22-hour surgery, four additional life flights, and over 20 medical procedures, including three craniotomy surgeries and three shunt revisions. Despite these immense challenges, Ryan fought with determination and hope. Many believed he would never speak again, yet he defied expectations, regaining his voice and beginning to reclaim his mobility after two long years. His courage inspired everyone who witnessed his recovery.
Though bedridden for much of his journey, Ryan’s spirit remained unbroken. He was discharged to a nursing home in Dillon, Montana, where he continued to fight for progress despite limited resources. His family, led by his devoted mother Ronda Huffman, stood by his side, advocating for the advanced rehabilitation services he needed. Their love and dedication reflected the deep bonds that sustained Ryan throughout his struggle.
